These reels can be bought for under well below $100. In my opinion, spincast reels are the easiest fishing reels to operate. They are also the least expensive type of reel that you can buy when getting started with the fishing pastime.
Zebco 33 | Spincast Fishing Reel
Zebco is my favorite brand of spincast reels. They are inexpensive and easy to use. The Zebco 33 is a great reel to use if you are a beginner at fishing. This reel is made of durable graphite with all metal gears.
The Zebco 33 comes with the ability to change from left to right-hand retrieval. This is a great feature to have if you are new to fishing and you want to experiment with left and right-hand retrieval. Like most spincast reels it comes pre-spooled so you can start fishing right out of the box.
This reel only comes with 3 ball bearings and the handle and knobs do have some play in them. Otherwise, it’s a well-constructed reel that’s useful for many types of fishing including bluegills, trout, and bass fishing.
Also, the Zebco 33 is a great spincast reel for young children to get started in the world of fishing! It has bite detection as well so you know when a fish is at the end of your line.

KastKing Brutus | Spincast Fishing Reel
Kastking makes some excellent reels that are inexpensive and last a long time. The Kastking Brutus comes with 5 ball bearings for a smooth retrieve when you are battling those tougher fish to reel in like largemouth bass. It comes pre-spooled with 10 lbs test Kastking premium mono line.
The Brutus has a high speed 4.0:1 gear ratio that helps in picking up the line faster and in turn saves time between casts. This allows you to have more time to fish and a better chance of catching more fish.
The handle is reversible which you don’t find in all spincast reels. So you can easily switch from left-handed retrieval to right-handed retrieval. And the stainless steel dual pick-up grabs slack line fast so you can hook that fish that’s getting away.
All in all the Brutus spincast reel is a fast and smooth retrieval reel to have in your fishing arsenal. It also looks pretty sweet!

The Zebco Omega Pro is my favorite spincast reel. Although it is the most expensive spincast reel out of the five you truly get what you pay for. The Omega Pro is an excellent reel for catching those heavier fish like largemouth bass and catfish!
It has 7 stainless steel ball bearings for easy casting and retrieval. The outer shell is made of aluminum, making it a light but durable fishing reel. The gears are all metal and it comes pre-spooled with 10 lbs Zebco Cajun line.
With the anti-reverse, you will no doubt catch that next trophy fish! Cast with ease with the soft-touch thumb button. It also has a double-paddled handle that can be switched for left or right-handed retrieval. If you are a serious angler who prefers fishing with a spincast reel then the Zebco Omega Pro is the reel you want!

The Kastking Cadet is the lightest and smallest fishing reel of the five so it’s a good reel for kids to get into fishing. It comes with 6 ball bearings for smooth casting and retrieval. It also comes with pre-spooled premium monofilament line.
You get, easy push-button casting and dual stainless steels pickups. The outer shell is made of graphite which helps in making this such a light reel but also durable to stand the rigors of fishing especially when children use it.
I would only recommend this reel for small children because made for small hands. The only issue I see with this reel is that the handle is not interchangeable it’s a fixed right-handed reel.

Zebco 404 | Spincast Fishing Reel
Zebco is the originator of the spincast reel so it’s no wonder why 3 of the top 5 are on Amazon’s best list for spincast reels. As a matter of fact, the first reel I started fishing with was Zebcos 404 spincast reel.
The 404 is lightweight but durable made of stainless steel. It comes with 5 ball bearings for smooth casting and retrieval. It also comes pre-spooled with 15 lb Zebco monofilament line. This reel works great for those bigger fish and can handle some of the biggest lures. It’s the least expensive reels on the list but it’s made to last.
I used my 404 for 10 years without any issues. This model only comes with right-handed retrieve so that is one of its downfalls. Other than that it’s a great reel to get started with and it’s affordable.

Buying a Spincast Fishing Reel? Here’s What to Look For
If you are in the market for a spincast fishing reel there are a few things you should consider before making a purchase.
Quality
Of course, quality is one of the most important purchasing decisions. You don’t want cheaply made reels that fall apart after a couple of uses. So make sure you are purchasing from a reputable company because there are many brands that are cheap knock off’s that come from China.
The reel’s casings should be made out of either graphite, aluminum, or stainless steel. The gears should be made of all steel. You want to avoid any reels that come with plastic housings or internal working parts that are plastic. Plastic cracks easily especially in cold conditions.
Ball Bearings
The more ball bearings there are in the reel the smoother casting and retrieval will be. The bearings should be made of stainless steel and having them shielded is the way to go. Shielded bearings have discs around them that keep out debris from getting in the way of the smooth process that’s needed for casting and retrieval
Having at least 3 stainless steel ball bearings in your reel is essential for the smooth operation of the reel.
Right and Left Hand Retrieve
Not all spincast reels come with dual handled retrieve. The ones that don’t are usually just right-handed so if you are a left-handed angler you will want to make sure that the reel has right and left handle capabilities.
Weight & Size
The weight and size of the reel are something you want to consider in a spincast reel. Some reels come with handles that are meant for kids. With these reels, an adult with big hands would have a hard time reeling in a fish.
If the reel is light you want to make sure that the housings and internal parts are made of stainless steel, graphite, or aluminum. Like I said earlier you don’t want a plastic reel.
